Born in Paris as Jean-Philippe Smet, but of Belgian origin by his father, Johnny Hallyday chose French nationality at the age of 18 in 1961. He enjoyed success while still a minor, surfing the twist fashion, before moving on to rock and blues. Titles such as "The Idol of the Young", "Black is Black", "I Forgot to Live", "My Mouth" or "Something from Tennessee" have left their mark on generations. A true monument of French song, Hallyday was made a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 1995, then a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur two years later. In addition to his singing career, Johnny Hallyday has also distinguished himself in the cinema with renowned directors such as Sergio Corbucci, Claude Lelouch and Jean-Luc Godard. At the beginning of 2010, Johnny was recovering in Los Angeles after a serious operation. In 2011, at the age of 68, he made his theatre debut with a play by American playwright Tennessee Williams. The year 2012 marks his 50th anniversary on stage, punctuated by a 48th studio album, entitled "Lattente", and a new tour. Johnny Hallyday is the father of three children: David, born from his relationship with Sylvie Vartan, Laura with Nathalie Baye, and Jade, whom he adopted with Laetitia Boudou. He was also married to Babeth Etienne and Adeline Blondieau.
