David Michael Hasselhoff was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Dolores Therese (Mullinex) and Joseph Vincent Hasselhoff, a corporate executive. He has German (from his paternal grandfather), English and Irish descent.
When David was seven years old, so he learned comedy, singing and took dance lessons. He was very shy in life in front of girls because he was tall and thin, but when he was on stage he was in his element. Due to his father's work, his family (he has four sisters) has moved frequently. He initially thought his career would go in the direction of musicals and Broadway.
The American public first came to see Hasselhoff when he played the popular "Dr. Snapper Foster" for six seasons on the CBS melodrama, Les feux de l'amour (1973). Seduced by Brandon Tartikoff of the NBC to travel from day to prime time, Hasselhoff continued as "Michael Knight" in the NBC K 2000 (1982) coup series.
