Born in the United States, Sylvester Stallone is a comedy enthusiast, so he goes to Miami to study drama. As soon as he returned to New York, he did a series of castings. Before breaking into film, he began his career with minor roles and ended up starring in 1970 in an erotic film called The Italian Stallion, then appearing in Woody Allen's Bananas. The actor's career is at a standstill and limited to figurative work.
Tired of waiting for the role that could launch his career, Stallone wrote Rocky and refused to sell the script if he did not play the title role. The film was an unexpected success, and was nominated for a dozen Oscar nominations and won three Oscars. Stallone wrote, directed and played Rocky throughout the saga.

The 2000s marked a turning point for Stallone with several commercial failures including Get Carter and Driven. It was in 2006 that he returned to success, signing with Rocky Balboa, the welcome back of the 1970s boxer. This one precedes the rebirth of another mythical character from Stallone: John Rambo in the film of the same name.
He finally wrote and directed Expendables: Special Unit in 2010, in which he shared the bill with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren. This new action film full of testosterones is a real triumph that leads Stallone to create two suites with new mythical actors of action cinema. Thus, in 2012 comes out Expendables 2: Special Unit and the third part is expected for the year 2014. During the same period, Stallone found two mythical actors in film: his eternal rival and friend Arnold Schwarzenneger for Évasion (2013) and Robert de Niro on Match Retour (2014).
