Rowan Atkinson was born in 1955 in England. He is the last of five siblings. After high school, he studied at the University of Newcastle, then at Oxford where he completed a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. There, he made a name for himself by performing sketches in an experimental theatre group, and met the future director Richard Curtis, with whom he would later work regularly. In 1990, Rowan Atkinson created a new hero, "Mr. Bean". The series consists of 14 episodes broadcast over five years. It revolves around the misadventures of the eponymous character, a clumsy man who only expresses himself through gestures, facial expressions or, very rarely, a few growling words. The success was such that in 1997 a film was released featuring this character. In 2003, he also directed "Johnny English", a parody of James Bond films in which he played a calamitous spy.
