Daniel Radcliffe was born in London to a father with a short experience as an actor and a mother who was just as briefly casting director, so there was nothing predestined for him to pursue a film career. The young boy grew up idolizing the football team in Fulham, the London neighbourhood where he comes from, and listening to the brit-pop bands he loves (Blur, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., Stereophonics, U2, The Darkness, Bloc Party, Muse...). Passionate about rock music, he tries for a while to play bass.
And Daniel became Harry... He also participates in the theatre workshops of the various schools where he is enrolled. He landed the role of David Copperfield in 1999 in an English TV film, opening the doors of the casting of Harry Potter at the Wizard's School (2000) a few months later. Although he failed to finish the first volume the first time he read it when he was 8 years old, he admits to loving the third part, Harry Potter and Azkaban's prisoner. By taking on the title role of the little wizard apprentice born under the pen of J.K. Rowling, Daniel Radcliffe immediately became an international celebrity, becoming the 3rd biggest hit in the history of cinema behind Titanic and Le Retour du roi with nearly a billion dollars in revenues.
