Andy Warhol, whose real name is Andrew Warhola, was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh and died on February 22, 1987 in New York. The child of Slovak immigrants of modest origin, he obtained a diploma in Fine Arts which paved the way for his career as an advertising designer, which was rewarded with various prizes. In 1961 and 1962, he created his first works by mixing objects of everyday life and artistic experience, as in the case of the Campbell's Soup Cans painting. From 1962, Andy Warhol began to work on a series of portraits of celebrities including Liz Taylor, Marylin Monroe and Jackie Kennedy. The artist thus uses the technique of silkscreen printing to show the mechanical and reproducible nature of his art. He repeated this method in the 1970s for the portraits of Mao Zedong and Mike Jagger. Andy Warhol in his creative process surrounds himself with a whole assembly of artists who attend his studio studio "The Factory" opened in 1964 and became an essential place on the underground art scene and the celebrities of that time. A polymorphous artist, starlized and contested, an emblematic figure of Pop Art, a commissioned painter at the end of his life, Andy Warhol was all of these at the same time.
