Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1961. Her father, an economist and politician from Kenya, and her mother, a young American student of Irish descent, have modest incomes. In 1963, Obama's father flew to the United States to study economics at Harvard University, leaving his family thousands of miles away. In 1992, he married Michelle Robinson, a renowned lawyer and influential figure of the local Democratic Party, in Chicago. It was on his advice that he embarked on politics. In 1996, Barack Obama was elected senator of the State of Illinois. In July 2004, he became known once again to democratic activists but also to many Americans through his speech nominating John Kerry as the party's candidate in the presidential election, in which he advocated the American dream. A few months later, on November 2, 2004, Barack Obama was elected to the United States Senate. In February 2007, Barack announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination, despite the Democratic competition from the much-loved Hillary Clinton.  On January 3, 2008, he became the first black president in the history of the United States of America....
