Fortunately, I have several tips to help you find the right size.

What a T-shirt should look like in your size

Before going into the details of the size guide, it is necessary to visualize the result of a good purchase.

A good quality T-shirt must be well cut. And this makes it easier to choose your size. At a glance you can see if it's coming along well.

Here are 4 things to be aware of:

1. The waist at the level of the shoulders

The first thing you need to look at is how the T-shirt falls on your shoulders.

It is in this detail that you can see if the T-shirt is the right size for you.

"The sleeve seam must fall on the shoulder break. If it's well cut, the rest will follow."

If the sleeve seam is not adjusted, it will give a "plunging shoulder" effect.

If you like the style of the 90s (relaxed T-shirt, sometimes worn in the pants), I advise you to choose a size above.

For a T-shirt that falls well on the shoulders (tight fit), it looks more like this picture:

Today, it is much more common to see men with a tight fitting T-shirt than a loose T-shirt (i.e. with falling shoulders). But this choice depends on the style you want to adopt.

2. The waist at the torso level

In general, aim for the middle of the arm. The ideal time is when they stop right at the beginning of the biceps and triceps in order to enhance these muscles as much as possible.

For long sleeve T-shirts:

When you are standing with your arms along your body, the bottom of the sleeve should reach the birth of your thumb (just below the bone of your wrist).

4. The length at the belt level

How to choose the right size T-shirt

There are several ways to find your size when buying online.

1. Start with your usual size

To find the right T-shirt, I advise you to start by choosing your usual size.

Men's T-shirts often (but not always) cut in the same way. (I am talking about "size" and not "cut". The last one depends on the T-shirt brands.)

So I suggest you start by trying on your usual T-shirt size.

Most brands try to stay within the standard in terms of size. This is the case with WhiteTar. Since the brand's inception in 2012, we have respected the French size scale. The goal is to make your life easier when you choose your T-shirts.

2. Think about your measurements (height and weight):

Your size is useful to us. This is the first element that helps us to deduce whether you need an S, M, L, or XL. As a general rule, a man measuring 1m80 will opt for a size M. And a man measuring 1m75 will take S.

Weight also counts. This helps us to refine the choice of size. A rather thin man measuring 1m80 will wear a T-shirt size S (if he weighs less than 70kg). On the contrary, a man who is 1m80 tall but weighs 85kg will be better in a size L.

3. Find your size with a tape measure

If you are not sure of your size, the best way to find it is to use a tape measure.

This will allow you to measure the torso size (or chest size). This is the information that all T-shirt online shops use to advise their customers.

Here is how a man can measure his chest size to choose his T-shirt size:

1.Stand up straight.
2.Run the tape measure under your armpits at your pectoral muscles, the strongest part of your chest.
3.Make sure that the meter remains straight, at the same front and back.
4.Be sure to keep a finger's distance between the tape measure on your chest (the tape measure is neither too loose nor too tight
5.Report the resulting measurement to the size correspondence (see below).

If you do not have a tape measure, use string. Go around your torso and measure the length that was necessary to go around.

The size scale comes from the Anglo-Saxon world:

S = Small
M = Medium
L = Wide
XL = Extra Large
So you have to translate it into centimetres. And this varies according to the brand of men's T-shirt.

4. Find your size from one of your T-shirts

If in doubt, measure a cotton T-shirt that fits you flat. And compare the measurements with the table below.

3. Take into account the rate of shrinkage. An organic cotton T-shirt will shrink. You are dealing with a natural material. So it's inevitable. Take a t-shirt that fits gives you a little margin.

If you take care of your T-shirt, the shrinkage of the fabric will be almost imperceptible (for example, 2 to 3% in the case of Millionaire T-shirts). For maintenance, wash your T-shirt at 30°C. And no machine drying. Dry in the open air.
